The Department of Law at Manarat International University (MIU) started its journey in 2009. It offers the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. 4 year Honours) degree. With a view to creating good judges, legal experts, good administrators and conscious citizens of tomorrow, the Department has been working relentlessly. From its very inception, the Department took different initiatives to unveil the hidden potential of learners. The four year Bachelors degree of Law is designed to prepare the students to acquire legal knowledge and gather the ability to apply that knowledge in the legal field. All throughout, the program focuses on broadening the student’s understanding of law and building their capacity and skill for the competitive world of the future. This will render an opportunity to serve humanity by working against injustice.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE:
The Bachelor of Law curriculum primarily involves the study of a number of core courses, which every law student should know to become Judges and Lawyers in the future. The courses are designed to prepare students to build their careers in the legal field. The program includes theoretical and practical courses. The syllabus of the Bar Council and the Judicial Service Commission are included in different courses. To have practical experience of Court procedure, regular Court visits are conducted under the practical course "Moot Court and Trial". This undergraduate curriculum is also designed in such a way that after graduation, the graduates will have a reasonable amount of general idea about humanities subjects and they will obtain good communication skill in English as well. The curriculum includes a good number of university required courses known as General Education Courses (GED). Areas of the GED courses include Linguistics (English and Arabic), Liberal Arts and Islamic Studies. This institution provides all the facilities necessary for development of the students as academically sound, morally excellent and full-fledged human beings.
DEGREE REQUIREMENTS:
To obtain the Bachelor of Arts degree from the Department of Law, each student is required to successfully complete a minimum of 111 credits. In addition to minimum 111 credits, students may also take extra courses from the elective courses for wider specialization. The distribution of the credits are given below:
