§
Working as the Head of the
Bangladesh Continental shelf technical team, for the defence of the Bangladesh’s
outer continental shelf submission to the United Nation Commission on the
Limits of the Continental shelf (UN CLCS). Submitted the Bangladesh’s amended
submission to the UN CLCS.
§
Worked as the Deputy Agent
in the Dispute concerning delimitation of the maritime boundary between
Bangladesh and Myanmar in the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea
(ITLOS) and between Bangladesh and India in the Permanent court of Arbitration
in The Hague.
§
Worked as the Team Leader
of the Bangladesh maritime boundary delimitation talks with India and Myanmar.
§
Handling all planning issues
related to challenges and opportunities of Blue economy in Bangladesh, building
its awareness and implementation, joint study with EU and Blue Economy Action
Plan in 2019 & other maritime affairs, etc.
§
Updated maritime laws of
Bangladesh in line with the UNCLOS and other International laws.
§
Adjunct faculty at
University of Dhaka, Eastern and Stamford University.
§
Regular Visiting lecturer
in the NDC, DSCSC, BARD and BPATC
2. Multilateral Forum
§
Responsible for coordinating
activities regarding suppression of piracy with other ministries of the Govt. including
Bangladesh Coast Guard, offshore block allocation to foreign IOCs.
§
Representing regional forum
meeting of ASEAN on maritime security.
§
Drafting and finalizing
regulations for polymetallic nodules, Cobalt rich crusts and Ferro manganese sulphide
in the International Seabed Authority.
§
Representing Bangladesh
regularly at the State Parties meeting on the Law of the Sea in the UN since
2005.
§
Participated in the UNCLOS
1982 signing ceremony on behalf of the government of Bangladesh in Montego Bay,
Jamaica and attended International seminars and presented papers on the United
Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, 1982.
§
Regularly participating and
representing Bangladesh in the negotiation of new convention called
Biodiversity beyond National Jurisdiction since 2016.
§
Chairperson of the Indian
Ocean Rim Association (IORA). Under his leadership Bangladesh was elected for
as Chair of the IORA for the period of 2021-2023.
§
Elected as the President of the Assemble of the International
Seabed Authority (ISA) 2016 & president of the council of the International
Seabed Authority in 2020.
§
Awarded with the first Bangabandhu Medal
for Diplomatic Excellence in 2020 for
his contribution to the Settlement of Bangladesh’s Maritime Boundary,
Development of Blue Economy and International Maritime Diplomacy.
3. Naval work experience
§ Commanded all types of Gun boats, Offshore Patrol Vessels,
Frigates and naval Establishments
§ Served as Director Naval Operations, Signals, Plans and Naval
Secretary in the Naval Headquarters,
Dhaka, Bangladesh
§ Appointed as the Defence Adviser in Bangladesh High Commission
in Malaysia, 1991-94
§ Commanded the Bangladesh Naval fleet and all other senior
appointment including Assistant Chief of Naval staff-operations and personnel,
Naval Headquarters, Dhaka.
§ Handled the affairs of the Ports, Shipping & IWT Ministry
during attachments, disaster relief.
§ Participated in NATO Naval Exercise 1997, Joint Exercise with
Saudi Navy in the Persian Gulf, Search and Rescue Exercise in Port Blair 1998.
4. Chairman of Mongla Port Authority, Khulna, Bangladesh
5. Syndicate member of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University.
6. Director Bangladesh Janata Bank Limited and at present also a member of Baiman Board of Directors.
